New, trendsetting motor technology with energy efficiency IE3
With the use of PM motors, Herborner Pumpenfabrik is heralding a new era of energy efficiency in the world of pump technology: PM motors (Permanent Magnet motors) help you save incredible amounts of energy. The motors improve efficiency by up to 13% in the process.
More performance, less costs!
The new technology of PM motors (synchronous motors) gives you three decisive benefits:
||Greater performance through excellent levels of efficiency
||Lower operating costs due to high energy savings
||Lower CO²-emission levels due to reduced use of electricity
Benefit from tomorrow's technology today!
PM motors are already now achieving efficiency levels that will be andatory by law from the year 2015, and delivering constant motor efficiency performance that complies with the Premium Efficiency Class (IE3).
Optimally suitable for swimming pool technology
PM motors are ideally suited for use in swimming pool technology because the frequency inverters needed to operate the PM motors are already being widely used in this field. Benefit from a more efficient, frequencyregulated and therefore process-optimised drive system for your swimming pool circulation pumps.
With the new technology, Herborner Pumpenfabrik has been successful in greatly minimising drive losses.
Old EFF code and new IEC code in comparison.
The specified efficiency standards that motors will have to comply with depending on category in accordance with the IEC code in future (from 2011) are IE2. PM motors are more efficient
than the IE3 standard!
Highest efficiency: advantages compared
to asynchronous motors
The synchronous motor (PM motor) has several key advantages over the asynchronous motors mainly used in swimming pool technology. Asynchronous motors are less efficient than synchronous motors because of their rotor slip mechanism. The smaller the asynchronous motor the greater the losses and therefore the lower the efficiency. PM motors offer the optimum alternative for this type of application: already now, their efficiency levels place them above IE3-grouped motors, i.e. they are more efficient than required for IE3 in accordance with the IEC code.
The pump characteristic curve pictured here compares the electrical power consumption(effective power) of a PM motor with that of an asynchronous motor (driving power 3 kW). The PM motor has a far lower consumption level.
An investment that quickly pays off!
The current high cost of electricity means the additional investment in the profitable technology soon pays off. If a swimming pool water pump runs at an average of 8,000 hours per year, the higher investment pays for itself in less than 18 months (depending on the motor capacity and the operating point).
